Rick Cerda
Rick operates as a senior manager with Crowe Horwath LLP. He has a background in assurance, tax services, profitability enhancement, risk management, large scale accounting office consolidations and internal control design. He has demonstrated success in the assurance and consulting practices of Crowe Horwath LLP for over 10 years.
He is the founder of Crowe’s Latino People Resource Network and currently serves as the National Lead for the network in which he oversees the recruitment, retention and leadership development of members of the network.
Rick is very active in the assurance and accounting profession. He has published articles, conducted training programs regarding various accounting topics and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Illinois CPA Society
He holds a bachelor of science in Accountancy from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign.
Solskin Gomez-Krogh
Solskin is a graphic and marketing specialist at Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association.
She has served as chair of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association Diversity Council and has been active in her condo association previously serving as secretary, treasurer, and president.
Solskin earned her Bachelor's in Anthropology and International Studies with a focus in Latin America from Iowa State University and an MBA from DePaul University.
Esperanza Arana
Esperanza is a financial planning and analysis manager for Abbott. Her responsibilities are Entity Financial Planning and Reporting. In her tenure at Abbott, she has served in many capacities in the areas of finance, supply chain, and Import /Export compliance.
She currently serves as Chicagoland Networks liaison for Abbott’s Hispanic/Latino Employee Network La Voice. She is also actively involved in Abbott’s campus recruiting efforts.
Esperanza holds a Bachelor's in Accounting and Finance from Purdue University.
Erica Marquez
Erica is an associate with Goldman Sachs Execution & Clearing L.P. and has held internships with Dept of Homeland Security, Toyota Motor Sales USA and Bank of America.
Her community involvement includes serving on the Corporate Advisory Board for DePaul's University's Midwest Association of Hispanic Accountants (MAHA), volunteering for IRS VITA, and is involved in her local community parish.
Erica holds a Bachelor's degree in Finance from DePaul University.
Edward Moy
Ed is a senior auditor in the Internal Audit area for Illinois Tool Works (ITW). He performs both operational and financial audits for a number of the various ITW business units. Prior to ITW, he worked at Deloitte LLP in the Audit and Enterprise Risk Services practice for three years.
He holds a Bachelor's in Accountancy from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
Christina Perez
Christina is an investment analyst at Fortaleza Asset Management, Inc. She is responsible for the research and analysis of the consumer discretionary sector and some technology names.
She received her Bachelor's in Commerce with a concentration in Finance and a minor in Management from DePaul University and is currently pursuing an MBA from Loyola University.
Judy Chavez
Judy is a senior external auditor in the Audit and Enterprise Risk Services practice of Deloitte LLP. She previously worked at Abbott Laboratories where she completed the two-year Financial Professional Development Program (FPDP).
In addition to her involvement with ALPFA, Judy is also a member of Deloitte’s Hispanic Network (HNET), American Institute of Certified Public Accounts, Illinois CPA Society and serves as advisor for the Midwest Association of Hispanic Accountants student organization at DePaul University.
Judy holds a Bachelor's from DePaul University in Accounting and is a Certified Public Accountant.
Jason D. Garcia
Jason is a vice president at The Northern Trust Company in Chicago. Prior to joining Northern Trust, Jason worked for U.S. Trust, Harris Private Bank and Charles Schwab.
He is a member of the Chicago Council on Global Affairs, the Chicago Cultural Mile Association and the University of Illinois Alumni Association.
Jason holds a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science and History from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and two Masters from the University of Kentucky, in U.S. Foreign Relations and International Business. Jason also holds Series 7, 24, 9, 10, 66 and 63 brokerage licenses and completed the Certificate Program in Financial Planning at DePaul University at Chicago.
Rich Rodriguez
Rich is a vice president at JP Morgan CHASE & Co, Chicago. He is responsible for providing clients with a broad range of investment management, insurance and estate planning services. Prior to joining CHASE, Rich worked at Charles Schwab where he was a Financial Consultant.
He is a member of the Chicago Council on Global Affairs.
Rich holds FINRA Series 7, 63, 65, 24, Brokerage Licenses. He also holds the State of Illinois Life and Health Insurance Licenses.
Irene Castaneda
Irene is a manager with the City Colleges of Chicago. Her previous experience includes working for Crowe Horwath, LLP, the Tribune Company, and WGN Channel 9 News.
She holds a Bachelor's in Business Administration from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Roberto Sepulveda
Roberto currently works for Sara Lee Corporation in the Diversity and Inclusion team. Prior to Sara Lee, he worked for the Hispanic Alliance for Career Enhancement (HACE) as an account manager and as a talent acquisition consultant and a senior staffing supervisor at Kelly Services.
He also served on the Board of Directors for the National Association of Hispanic MBA’s (NSHMBA) as VP of Membership.
Roberto holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Management and is currently pursuing his MBA at the Brennan School of Business at Dominican University.
Chris Kleckner
Chris works for Allstate Insurance Corporation as a senior human resource consultant in the Talent Acquisition area where he supports Allstate’s Finance, Accounting and Investment areas. He has been in the Financial Recruiting sector for the past 15 years where he has recruited and placed financial professional into opportunities of varying levels. Before Allstate, Chris work for international recruitment firms Robert Half International and Michael Page International in various roles.
In addition to ALPFA, Chris is involved with National Society of Hispanic MBA’s (NSHMBA), Hispanic Alliance for Career Enhancement (HACE) and the Allstate “Helping Hands” organization.
Chris holds a Bachelor's from Boston University.
Pedro Diaz de Leon
Pedro is a senior internal auditor for RR Donnelley & Sons. Prior to working at RR Donnelley, he worked in audit capacities at Hospira, Inc, in the Internal audit group and performed audits of various Hospira locations and business units within the Healthcare sector for Hospira.
For the last three years, Pedro has been a tax site facilitator for Ladder Up and volunteers at The Center for Economic Progress.
Pedro obtained a dual degree in Accounting and Finance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and is a Licensed Certified Public Accountant in the state of Illinois.
Juana Barbosa
Juana Barbosa is a senior financial analyst in the Corporate Planning Department at Aon Corporation.
She volunteers in committees for Aon's Latino Business Networking Group, Mujeres Latinas En Accion and is part of her local church choir.
Juana holds a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from Loyola University of Chicago.
Susan Diaz de Leon
Susan currently works for U.S. Cellular as a media relations specialist and previously as a public affairs specialist. Previous roles include working for the Hispanic Alliance for Career Enhancement (HACE) as an Account Coordinator.
In addition to her volunteer work with ALPFA, she is on the board for the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign’s Latina/o Alumni Association.
Susan received her Bachelor of Liberal Arts and Science in Speech Communications with an emphasis in Business from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Henry Nakazawa
Henry recently left PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP as a senior associate. His previous experience includes working for Deloitte LLP and Accenture as a consultant involved in the implementation of SAP to top companies across the country.
He is also part of PwC’s Network of Latino Professionals, a member of the Illinois Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and Owasippe Scout Association.
Henry holds a Bachelor's degree from DePaul University in Computer Science.
Benjamin Hernandez
Ben currently attends the University of Illinois pursuing a Masters in Taxation. Prior to that, he worked for Deloitte Tax LLP in their international tax group.
He has been involved with ALPFA for more than 5 years. As a student at UIC, Ben served on the University’s student chapter [board] as the corporate relations chair. In 2007 he was part of the ALPFA Leadership Summit committee.
Ben holds a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and Finance with a minor in Entrepreneurship.
Argelia Ibanez
Argelia is a senior consultant within the Business Risk group at Deloitte LLP and has more than eight years of experience in Internal Audit and Public Accounting with a concentration in manufacturing clients.
She holds a Bachelor's degree in Accounting from the National Autonomous University of Mexico.
Melissa Mroz
Melissa currently works for Crowe Horwath LLP in the Resource Management team and has worked for Crowe Horwath for more than 11 years.
She has been a Co-Lead for Crowe Horwath’s Go Crowe team for Light the Night for the past two years and sits sit on the Charity Committee for Crowe. Melissa is also involved with VITA and Ladder Up and gives back to her local VFW during Thanksgiving to prepare Thanksgiving Meals. Melissa has been involved with ALPFA since 2007 and co-lead Women of ALPFA in 2009.
Melissa holds a Bachelor's in Accounting from North Central College and an Associate’s degree from College of DuPage.
Jose Ramon Rivera
Jose Ramon is an attorney in the Chicago office of DLA Piper LLP. Prior to joining DLA Piper LLP, Jose Ramon worked for Jenner & Block LLP and Ernst & Young LLP.
He is a member of the American Bar Association; Illinois State Bar Association; Hispanic Lawyers Assocation of Illinois (HLAI); and Chicago Bar Association.
Jose Ramon holds a BS in Finance from the University of Illinois at Urbana - Champaign; a JD from the University of Southern California; and an LLM from Northwestern University.
