Professional Development

 

The focus of ALPFA Chicago’s Professional Development team is twofold: First, working as a team to develop and execute quality professional programming and events for our ALPFA members and sponsors; in addition to targeting our current members. Professional Development promotes ALPFA events as a tool to increase new membership and support from our sponsors while actively promoting our organization. Our focus will stretch even further in order to address the needs and concerns of our ALPFA Chicago members from a Professional Development perspective. Secondly, our ALPFA Link initiative is an ongoing and large project under the Professional Development scope. 
 
Through Professional Development and ALPFA Link, we address members’ needs via the implementation of new programs, sessions, consistent development opportunities, continuing education, strategic alliances, and most important: relevant events, programs, and initiatives that reinforce the need for ALPFA to be an indispensable component of our members' professional and personal development. Via numerous relationships, penetration into untapped markets, and creation of programs sought after by our members, Professional Development will be an indispensable resource for our members, set the standard for other Chapters Professional Development practices, and reinforce our presence within the local Chicago market and beyond. 
 
ALPFA Link
The primary goal of this initiative is to create a connection, or link, between ALPFA Chicago members and their professional goals, through career development & guidance, as well as external networking and relationship-building. 
 
Mission
The mission of ALPFA-LINK is to promote professional development and empower its members by providing meaningful career development opportunities. This will be accomplished by creating a connection between candidates seeking employment and corporate sponsors seeking to fill a position. Through initiatives such as: a defined career development team to oversee the process, use of a resume management system, and programs that teach candidates how to become more marketable.
 
In addition, the mission supports our efforts to increase membership & increase awareness among corporate partners.

The Professional Development Team of ALPFA Chicago is focused on providing relevant programming, events and developmental opportunities for our current members, while also attracting new members.  The objective is to develop both the personal and professional skills of ALPFA members.

There are two components of Professional Development:

 1) Events that promote ongoing development for our business professionals, supplemented by meaningful presentations, and tangible takeaways for application in our daily professional lives

2) ALPFA Link

  Other marquee events that will be provided by Professional Development include but are not limited to:

·      Women of ALPFA

·      Leadership Summit

·      CFO Summit

·      ALPFA Link events and "mini on demand" link sessions (web-based training)

·      Continuing Education and Training Programs

·      Professional Development Forums

·      Spring PDF

·      Networking and Interview Training Programs 

·     Business Spanish for Bilingual Professionals and Business Etiquette Sessions

Our goal for 2010-2011 is to also incorporate events that focus on a wide range of professional backgrounds, from Human Resources to Sales and Marketing, ALPFA Chicago's Professional Development understands the diversity of our membership, and will provide events specifically designed to engage members from those varying backgrounds.

Another tremendous benefit of pariticipating in Professional Development events is the ability to obtain CPE credits (Continuing Professional Education)

Through attending events, our members will be able to maintain, improve and broaden their knowledge and skills and develop the personal qualities required in their professional lives.
