Event 01 Summary - Kick-Off Event - November 4, 2006
"Are You Ready to be Mentored?
Tips on Making the Most of Your Mentorship Relationship"
Presented by ALPFA Chicago

Dear ACMP Mentors, Mentees, ALPFA Students, and Program Guests:
Thank you for attending the kick-off event for the 2006-2007 ALPFA Chicago Mentorship Program this past Saturday at the offices of KPMG.  We’re proud to inform you that we had 50+ attendees at this event.  Your strong attendance not only demonstrates your commitment to the program but has also set the tone for a successful program year.

I hope that you came away from this event with an understanding of the:

  • Structure and Purpose of the Mentorship Program
  • Importance of setting a [clearly-defined learning objective] for your mentoring partnership
  • Definition of the Mentor Role, Expectations of Mentors
  • Definition of the Mentee Role, Expectations of Mentees
  • Role of the ACMP Guide & Toolkit (Developed with the support of PricewaterhouseCoopers)
  • Importance of being open and consistent with your communications, not just between mentors and mentees, but also between these program participants and the ACMP Committee (we’re here to help you).

Congratulations!
Congratulations to Nancy G. Villasenor, an MBA student at Robert Morris College, for winning the ACMP Go-Getter Prize.  Nancy won a KPMG “Think Big” Laptop Backpack by Ogio.  Congratulations also goes out to the members of “Team 3” for winning the All Aboard! Team-Building Exercise.  This team was able to devise a strategy to get the most individuals to stand on three phone books for the longest amount of time without touching the ground.  Who says business professionals can’t be athletes too?

Kindest Regards,
