| Dear ACMP Mentors, Mentees, ALPFA Students, and Program Guests: |
 |
| Thank you for attending the second event of the 2006-2007 ALPFA Chicago Mentorship Program this past Saturday at the offices of PricewaterhouseCoopers. With nearly 40 attendees, this event helped students to understand the purpose of resumes, research, and interviews while focusing on effective ways to use these tools to communicate their value to recruiters and interviewers. I hope that you came away from this event with an understanding of the following items: |
| |
- What Do You Volunteer?: How to Frame Resume Writing and Interviewing as a Volunteer Process
- Breakeven Point [Graph] – The day where:
Value Consumed + Value Contributed = 0
- Insightful Tips on Resume Writing and Interview Preparation By PwC’s Gene Batenga and Courtney Moore
- The Mock-Interview: A crucial tool to help you communicate your value proposition (“practice makes perfect”)
- Avoid Compromising Your Value – Importance of cleansing your social networking profile (MySpace, Facebook, Friendster, etc.)
- “Answerology: Don’t Kill Princess LEAA” (Leadership, Level of Energy, Ability to Learn, and Anti-Dilutive) - A Model for Successful Interviewing
