Program Mission > Career Discovery   Event Summaries
The ALPFA Mentoring Program (AMP) creates and supports a career discovery and learning environment for our student members by matching them with a professional in their career field of interest for a year-long, one-on-one mentoring relationship to help students (1) understand the demands and rewards of a professional career, (2) reinforce current career choices or (3) explore other career possibilities. AMP is an opportunity for students to meet, network, and expand their career horizons while interacting with other students and business professionals.

For professionals, AMP is a way for our professional members to (1) learn coaching, listening, interviewing, and other people development skills, (2) gain an understanding of the developmental needs of our students and provide solutions to the transitional issues students face as they move from the college life to a professional career, and (3) create networks with other professionals within and outside their fields and industries.

Program Structure
AMP asks experienced professionals from distinguished organizations to serve as year-long mentors to ALPFA Student Members in a one-to-one mentoring relationship. In the past, we matched these professionals with ALPFA Student Members from DePaul University, Robert Morris College, Northern Illinois University, Purdue University, the University of Illinois at Chicago, and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign based on similar career interests and aspirations. In addition to informal meetings between mentors and mentees, the program has several structured workshop events, each one hosted by one of our Corporate Partners.

2007/2008 Corporate Partners
ALPFA Chicago would like to thank each of this year's Corporate Partners not only for enrolling and supporting their professionals in AMP, but also for demonstrating their commitment to the development of our student members. For these reasons, we say "Thank You."
