Our ALPFA Student Chapters   State Campus
The Student Chapters of ALPFA Chicago provide leadership development, volunteer, internship, and scholarship opportunities to talented students from five different colleges and universities in Illinois and Indiana. Active involvement in these activities helps students to make a successful transition from college to career since they have access to ALPFA's national network of Latino professionals and to its corporate partners. The chapters also provide a means with which professionals can connect with students and serve as teachers, advisors, and mentors for students that need help navigating the sometimes overwhelming or uncertain career options available to them. ALPFA Chicago helps them to bridge this knowledge gap.

About the College of Business
At Northern's College of Business, a transformative education is made up of creative vision mixed with an indisputable work ethic. It is thinking and doing … particularly in the face of a world that is all too often characterized by massive change. Those two abilities – seeing the big picture and turning vision into reality – form the cornerstone of Northern's business college. Here, there is no fear of new ideas. And the college fosters this intellectual bravery in its students at every turn, compelling them to go where they haven't yet been. Over the course of their undergraduate tenure, Northern's business students meet the challenge of "thinking and doing" in several ways, among them: teaming up to solve firm-specific problems; role playing through negotiations, case study scenario solutions, or a decisionmaking process; conducting faculty-sponsored or firm-specific research here or abroad; delving into mentorships or internships with organizations located throughout the Midwest and the country; or brainstorming at professional workshops that count as attendees Northern's business students standing shoulder to shoulder with Chicago-area business owners and managers. ALPFA RMC - Robert Morris College
> [ Website ]
In September 2003, this ALPFA Student Chapter was founded by Jacqueline Quinonez and Beatriz Rangel with the help of their academic advisor, James Coughlin. This chapter participates in various events to help students enhance their leadership and professional skills. The ALPFA RMC Student Chapter organized and participated in the Accounting Career Day in conjunction with the Chicago Public Schools. The event consists of a case study competition where approximately 150 high school students around the Chicagoland area participated. ALPFA RMC leaded the competition, assisted prospective students with accounting and evaluated the case study results. It also participated in the Student Life event at RMC, where the chapter shares the value of ALPFA with the fellow students of RMC and invites them to attend future events and meetings to learn more about the organization and how they could benefit by being an active member.

ALPFA UIC - University of Illinois at Chicago
> [ Website ]
The Latino Association of Business Students (LABS) is a pre-professional student organization established within the College of Business at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). The organization's roots go back to the early 1980's and then were re-established in the early 1990's. Today, LABS is one of the most respected student organizations within UIC and the College of Business. Even though the words "Latino" and "Business" are part of our name, we are completely open to students of all races and majors.

In 2005, we affiliated with the Association of Latino Professionals in Finance and Accounting (ALPFA). This gives us national support and recognition, and what is even better - LABS members become ALPFA members as well.

About the Krannert School of Management
For the third straight year, The Wall Street Journal has named Purdue University's Krannert School of Management a top 5 MBA school in a special section published Sept. 20, 2006. The Journal's survey of corporate recruiters concluded that the Krannert School is the No. 4 program in the nation that serves recruiters from a regional base. Unlike other MBA rankings that use a variety of measures, the Journal uses only surveys and interviews with corporate recruiters. "This survey means much to me because it reflects the feelings of more than 4,000 recruiters," said Richard A. Cosier, Krannert School dean and Leeds Professor of Management. "Recruiters' perceptions reflect highly on our students' work ethics and their value added to corporations around the globe." The Wall Street Journal ranked Krannert's operations management area third among all schools, a distinction the School has held since the survey debuted in 2001. Krannert also was ranked 10th among the most underrated schools nationally. (Source: purdue.edu)
